Energy / Load banks

Prove it under load.

Resistive load bank hire and attended generator commissioning across the UAE — acceptance testing to 110% of rated load, transient response, paralleling and N+1 proving, and annual standby testing. Every test leaves with a signed report.

What we test

A nameplate is a claim. A test is evidence.

Load bank testing is the difference between a generator that should work and a generator that has been shown to work. We run the test, log the readings and hand over a report you can put in front of a consultant.

  • 01

    Acceptance testing to 110%

New or newly installed sets proven at 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 and 110% of rated load, with temperatures, pressures, voltage and frequency logged at each step until readings stabilise.

  • 02

    Step-load & transient response

Block loads applied and removed to verify governor and AVR recovery — frequency dip, voltage dip and recovery time measured against the specified performance class.

  • 03

    Paralleling & N+1 proving

Multiple sets synchronised and loaded together to confirm load sharing, kW and kVAr balance, and that the remaining sets carry the load when one is dropped.

  • 04

    Annual standby-set testing

Standby gensets that idle all year on light building load get an annual full-load exercise — the only reliable way to find a fault before the outage does.

  • 05

    Wet-stacking recovery

Sets that have run under-loaded for long periods carry unburnt fuel and carbon. A controlled full-load burn under a load bank clears deposits and restores clean running.

  • 06

    Certified test reports

Every test leaves with a signed report — stepped readings, ambient conditions, instrument details and pass/fail against the acceptance criteria. Consultant and third-party witness formats accepted.

Where it matters most

  • Data centre & critical-facility acceptance
  • Consultant-witnessed site acceptance tests
  • Hospital & control-room standby sets
  • Annual testing of under-loaded standby plant

Load bank testing

What clients ask.

  • Why test at 110% of rated load and not just 100%?

A set that only ever sees 100% has no proven margin. The 110% step (typically held for one hour on a prime-rated set) confirms the engine, alternator and cooling package have headroom for the overload the standard allows, and it is where marginal cooling or fuel-supply problems reveal themselves. Many consultants and data-centre acceptance regimes require it.
  • What size load banks do you have?

Resistive banks are combined to match the set under test, from small single-unit tests up to multi-megawatt paralleled arrays. Tell us the set rating, voltage and frequency and we will configure the bank, cabling and metering to suit.
  • Do I need load bank testing if my generator has never been used?

Especially then. A generator that has never carried real load is unproven — factory testing covers the set as built, not as installed. Site acceptance testing catches installation faults: undersized cabling, restricted cooling airflow, exhaust back-pressure, fuel-supply throttling and control-wiring errors. These are installation problems, and a load bank is how you find them before the building depends on the set.
  • How often should a standby generator be load tested?

Annually as a working rule, and more often for critical facilities or sets whose monthly exercise runs at low building load. Monthly no-load or light-load runs keep the battery charged and the engine turning, but they do not prove capacity and they encourage wet stacking. Full-load testing is what proves the set will hold up.
  • Can you test our set without shutting the facility down?

Usually yes. A load bank connects downstream of the generator rather than to the building load, so the set can be run up and loaded while the facility stays on mains. Testing the transfer sequence itself does need a planned window — we schedule those out of hours.
  • Do you supply load banks on their own, or only with your generators?

Either. Load banks are available as a dry hire with cabling and metering, or as a fully attended test where our engineers run the test and issue the report. Sets we did not supply are welcome — commissioning and annual testing is a service in its own right.

Commissioning or annual test due?

Send us the set rating.

Generator rating, voltage, frequency and site location — we'll configure the bank, cabling and metering, and confirm the test window.
